Children and Young People

At HBC, our children’s learning and faith journey is important to us. Which is why we focus …
On a Sunday morning, we look at something from the bible in age-appropriate groups. We have three group:
Creche & Pre-schoolers
We operate a ‘parent’s creche’ for young babies or toddlers, who need to stay with a parent. You can either utilise the comfy chair in the foyer, where you will still be able to hear the service (age-appropriate toys in the cupboard) or go out into the hall with the other children and spend time in the creche corner. For pre-schoolers confident to come out to a group without an adult, there will be a helper available to spend time with them either in the children’s group or creche corner (or often between the two!)
Children (primary school age)
The bible and faith are explored creatively, often through games, activities and crafts
Young People (High School age)
The bible and faith are explored through discussion for this group. Some of our Young People stay into the service from about aged 15 upwards (but it needs to be when they feel ready).
Afterschool Cell Group
We have an afterschool house group, usually on a Wednesday, for those at secondary school. Held at the manse, which is easily accessible from the local secondary schools, we’re working our way through Mark’s Gospel, discussing what we like about the passage, what we find challenging, as well as what does it tell us about God and about ourselves. It’s a laid-back time of fellowship, where we all learn together. For more information,
use the form on the ‘Contact Us’ page.
On Tuesday afternoons, during term time, we also host Youth Renew space. It’s a place where ‘it’s okay not to be okay’ especially focused on High School aged young people. For more information,
