Our Vision

Our vision statement – Living Faith, Bringing Hope, Sharing the Love of Jesus – encapsulates something of what we are about at Harrogate Baptist Church.

Here’s a bit more about what each part means for us:

Living Faith

This first part is about discipleship, about what we’re doing to grow as disciples of Jesus and through his Spirit, to become more like him.  It includes gathering together on a Sunday, being part of a house-group, praying together.  It’s about fellowshipping together and encouraging each other, that’s why we have fellowship lunches and other gatherings, like our ladies breakfast or a cream tea for the older folk.  It’s also about how we care for each other.  And all of this applies to our children and young people – we want them to grow in their faith too.

Bringing Hope

Hope is one of the hallmarks of Christian faith.  We believe that God is renewing our world to make it how he designed it to be and we want to see his Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.  We therefore want our action, those things that we do individually and as a church, to bring the hope of the gospel, especially to those who are in need and marginalised.  Whether it’s bringing that hope to the people of Harrogate, social justice or supporting our mission partners abroad, we are seeking to get involved and to bring real hope in an often 'hope-less' world.

Sharing the love of Jesus

This is what it says!  Sharing the love that Jesus showed, modelled in the gospels by what we say as well as what we do, again both individually and together. It’s looking to spread the good news of Jesus through word and deed with those who have little or no connection with church or faith.  To fulfil the Great Commission of the resurrected Jesus to ‘go and make disciples of all nations’.
